Geofrey Junior Waako Founder & Executive Director
Geofrey Junior Waako, a recently graduated lawyer, is the visionary founder of YAVA (Youth for Animals and Veganism Africa). His commitment to animal rights and plant-based lifestyles was ignited during a pivotal encounter with Jane, an exchange student who passionately shared insights about the mistreatment of animals. This encounter propelled Geofrey to dedicate his career to advocating for animals and fostering plant-based living among the youth in Uganda.
Geofrey’s legal background equips him with a unique perspective on advocating for animal rights and ethical choices. His passion for creating positive change led him to establish YAVA as a platform for empowering youth to champion animal welfare and sustainable living.
As the Executive Director of YAVA, Geofrey provides strategic leadership, guiding the organization in its mission to empower the youth of Africa for the well-being of animals, the environment, and communities. His commitment to fostering a compassionate future is evident in YAVA’s initiatives and programs.
Asiimwe Faith- Programs Manager
Faith Asiimwe is a dedicated professional with a diverse educational background. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies from Kampala International University and a diploma in Animal Science. Her academic prowess, coupled with her passion for sustainable development, makes her an invaluable asset to YAVA’s team.
With a dual expertise in Development Studies and Animal Science, Faith brings a unique perspective to her role as Programs Manager. Her academic foundation provides her with a holistic understanding of both human and animal welfare, enhancing her ability to drive positive change.
As the Programs Manager, Faith is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing YAVA’s diverse programs. Her role involves collaborating with team members, educational institutions, and communities to ensure the effective execution of initiatives that align with the organization’s mission.
Faith’s commitment extends to advocating for animal welfare, veganism, and sustainable living. Her comprehensive knowledge of animal science enriches YAVA’s programs, contributing to the organization’s mission of empowering the youth to lead in building a future of compassionate advocacy.
Emmanuel Ochuku- Communications Specialist
Emmanuel Ochuku is a skilled communicator with a degree in Mass Communication from Kampala International University. His educational background and passion for effective communication make him an integral part of YAVA’s dynamic team.
As a Communications Specialist, Emmanuel leverages his expertise in Mass Communication to amplify YAVA’s message and mission. His strategic approach to communication ensures that the organization’s initiatives are effectively conveyed to diverse audiences.
Emmanuel plays a crucial role in shaping YAVA’s public image and fostering engagement. His responsibilities include crafting compelling narratives, managing digital platforms, and coordinating communication strategies to maximize the impact of YAVA’s advocacy.
Keem Patricia- General Secretary & Head of Volunteers
Patricia is a dedicated member of YAVA, serving in dual roles as the General Secretary and Head of Volunteers. With a diploma in Secretarial Studies, Patricia contributes her administrative prowess and leadership skills to the organization.
Patricia’s proficiency in secretarial studies equips her with the organizational skills needed to manage administrative tasks efficiently. As the Head of Volunteers, she also showcases leadership in mobilizing and coordinating YAVA’s team of volunteers.
As the General Secretary, Patricia oversees administrative functions, documentation, and communication within YAVA. Her role involves maintaining records, scheduling meetings, and providing essential support to ensure the organization operates seamlessly.
Musiime Ivan- Finance Officer
Ivan serves as the Finance Officer of YAVA, bringing financial acumen and accountability to the organization. With a degree in Accounting, George plays a pivotal role in ensuring the fiscal health and sustainability of YAVA’s initiatives.
Ivan’s academic background in accounting positions him as a valuable asset in overseeing financial matters. His expertise contributes to transparent financial practices and strategic financial planning for YAVA. As the FO, Ivan is entrusted with the financial management of YAVA. His responsibilities include budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Ivan provides fiscal oversight to YAVA’s activities, ensuring that financial resources are allocated efficiently to support the organization’s mission and goals.
Muhiadin Mohamed Baroud – Global Ambassador
Muhiadin Mohamed Baroud, a distinguished individual hailing from the nation of Somaliland, serves as our esteemed Global Ambassador within the Youth for Animals and Veganism Africa (YAVA) team. With a rich academic background, Baroud holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Commercial Law, showcasing his expertise in legal matters, particularly within the commercial realm. Additionally, his diverse educational portfolio includes a diploma in Food Science, reflecting his commitment to holistic approaches that span both legal and scientific domains.
As our Global Ambassador, Baroud plays a pivotal role in representing the interests and perspectives of non-Ugandan citizens within the organization. His international perspective, coupled with a keen understanding of legal intricacies and insights into food science, brings a unique and valuable dimension to our team. Baroud acts as a bridge between different cultures and nations, fostering global collaboration and understanding.
