Our History YAVA traces its roots back to 2021 when a group of passionate students at Kampala International University founded a student club named “Club for Animals and Veganism.” The initial focus was on raising awareness and sensitizing fellow university students about animal welfare and veganism. The club organized awareness campaigns and events within the university, creating a grassroots movement fueled by the shared commitment to ethical choices and sustainable living. As momentum grew, so did the club’s ambitions. In 2022, recognizing the potential for broader impact, the organization officially transitioned from a student club to Youth for Animals and Veganism Africa (YAVA). This significant milestone marked the beginning of a more formalized commitment to creating positive change beyond the university campus.
